Is the Preview Window always an accurate representation?

$

CS3. Two issues:

1.

1920x1080 menu with 1920x1080 motion background(mpeg file). The menu file has an outline as well as drop shadow effect created in Photoshop.

However, in the preview window, the outline and drop shadow look different(see example). I realize I could get rid of the problem by collapsing the effect in Photoshop, but why do I have to? Some kind of scaling issue........?

2.

I have a motion background to the menu. What's moving is a little circular blade to the left of play movie, which spins. It makes 2 complete circles in 20 frames. The 11th and 21 frames would look like the first. ( The reason the background movie is 2 complete spins looping(instead of one) is that Encore won't use any movie less than .4 seconds as a menu background.)

Anyway, the preview window doesn't show a smooth looping spinning blade. It kind of starts again after 20 frames of looping instead of going on continiously "forever",  which is what I want. OR is this just a preview window problem which will go away at burning time.

Any ideas?

I just upgraded to CS5.5 to CS6. I have never had this problem before. I keep trying to burn a Bluray using Encore CS6, however, i keep getting this maessage after the program tries to burn the Disc: "Bluray Error: "device error", Code: "3", Note "CreateStcSequence:Fail to write M2S file""

Encore will burn the 8.22gb of 8.49gb to disc and then display the aove message. I keep burning coasters, Grrr! How can I resolve this? Thank you.

I SOLVED THE ERROR CODE 3!!!

HOLY COW, I finally discovered the answer for the Error Code 3, guys!  At least for my type of Error Code 3, where it could not open a particular file when trying to burn a blu-ray (either disc or image).

In searching for an answer, I just happened to stumble upon the Wikipedia article for Encore, which says that AVCHD 2.0 files are not compatible for burning to blu-ray disc in Encore.  So I decided to go back into Premiere and re-export the timeline to MPEG-2 Blu-Ray, bring those files (m2v and wav) into Encore, and voila - it wrote the ISO, no problem!

Do I Need These Media Cache Files?

Just discovered these are the reason my 1tb C drive is full. I have 440gb of 'CFA File', 'PEKFile',  'MMPGINDEX'  files tucked away in my Users/myname/App

Data/Roaming/Adobe/Common/Media Cache directory. File names are from my Edius editing and Encore DVD/BRD projects - I don't use Premiere. Some are projects that are finished but some current. What are they, do I need them, can I delete them all, can I stop Encore making them in future???

Encore 6.0.1 - Audio out of sync on Blu-Ray

$

I have been doing Blu-Ray DVDs with Encore with audio and video insync for quite sometime.

Now my video and audio plays fine in preview from the timeline in Encore but, when I burn the Blu-Ray and play it

the audio is out of sync by roughly 5-7 seconds.

Workflow:

1. Export movie from PPRO CS6 in H.264 format for Blu-ray like always.

2. Import movie and .acs file into Encore 6.0.1 as a timeline.

3. Put Menu together, play the movie from start to finish in Encore preview- audio plays fine with people speaking

4. Then, build.

4. Drag files over to Roxio Toast to burn DVDs.

6. Play Blu-Ray DVDs in my Sony Blu-Ray player only to find the audio goes out of sync.

I thought the 6.01 Mac update took care of this issue?

I did notice that the audio file is longer than the video file by a number of frames - 18 to be exact.

Encore Menu Templates and Presets

I have Encore CS6 Installed and it is working (as far as I can tell)..  There are no menu templates or presets available.  Is there a way to find these?  Is there a CC upgrade for Encore?

In addition to that fun, I cannot get a DVD to burn with the correct aspect ration.  I want an SD DVD to play the same frame as an HD DVD?  Arg...

How do I import an SRT or SCC file into Encore?

All I want is add subtitles in different languages that can be toggled on and off, the subtitle/captioning service offered .srt and .scc files and neither are working in either Premiere or Encore.

Improper format of DDP files

I've built a dual-layer DVD project and output DDP files for a replicator.

The replicator tells me the files are not in a proper format.

The replicator says the files should be in folders named "Layer 0" and "Layer 1," but Encore is exporting the files as "Layer 1" and "Layer 2."

Also, the CONTROL.DAT file is outside the layer folders, but the replicator told me that each folder needs its own CONTROL.DAT file inside it.

Hello. I have a video of 1920x1080 and also my menus and everything in encore is 1920x1080. I know Encore exports it to 720x480, but why is the quality so bad when exported? The words are pixelated too. Hope someone can help me out!

Thanks in advance!

How do I get Encore with Premiere Pro CC?

Converted (.SRT -> Encore Subtitle text script) never Sync.

Hi all,

I've searched for two days on the web but still no answer.

I'm making a BluRay Disc of a collection of TV Show episodes. I add these episodes as an .m4v file into Encore, which works great. These videos will be transcoded the the appropriat format at the end.

The only problem I encounter is the subtitles: I have an .srt file which runs perfectly sync with the .m4v video file (when I just play it in i.e. VLC, so no Adobe Encore is used)

But when I open the .srt file in a Subtile Editor (Subtitle Workshop, Subtitle Edit, Jubler (MAC) ) and hit ' Save As' Adobe Encore Text Script and import it in Adobe Encore, it starts of as a good sync in the first few seconds of the TV Show episode, but is way out of sync at the end of the episodes... (Sounds like me as an FPS problem?)

I've tried everything, from all different types of FPS output of the subtitle file, to all different project FPS settings.

My main project is 23,976FPS BluRay NTSC, my VIDEOFILE.m4v is 23,976FPS and my subtitles are 23,976FPS.

I really hope someone can help me out here.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Christiaan.

Surround Sound AAC on a DVD

$

I know this question has been asked before - but I've followed a few threads and it hasn't been spelt out how to do it!

I want to burn a 5.1 surround DVD. I've exported the audio as a six channel AAC and imported into into my Encore Timeline and can hear the sound. I've also set my project audio settings to Dolby Digital (is that correct?)

However - I'm finding that Encore wants to encode the timeline into a stereo file. I would assume there would be a box to say Don't Transcode - but there isn't. Just lot's of options how I want to re-encode the audio - which I don't want to do!

Blu-Ray - Playback Freezes - Bitrate Question - Replication

$

Hi Everyone:

I've searched the forums and found a number of different answers, but I want to put my questions in one place.

I am authoring a blu-ray disc with a 100 minute feature film and bonus features. Playback freezes at a certain point (that point slightly shifts as I try different bitrates, but always in the same general area.)

Here are my current stats:

Using Encore 6 via Creative Cloud

Using MPEG 2-Blu-ray compression (I've researched the difference between Mpeg2 and H264. I went with Mpeg2 because supposedly it handles shadows and darkness better. My film is bright.)

Maximum bitrate for the film: 24.75 (current version I am working with and the lowest I've gone)
HD-DTS audio track: 1.5 megabits

5.1 track: 498 kbps (if I recall correctly)

Commentary track: Same as 5.1 or less

Data on disc (according to Encore): 23.95 gigs (out of 25 gb)

Using a Mac

Every blu-ray I have burned, starting with a 28 max bitrate, freezes in the same general area.

I have read here in the forums that I should stay below 25 bit rate with all elements combined if I am burning the disc, but bitrate shouldn't matter if I am replicating.  Is this the case?

Ultimately, this disc will be replicated. I will not release burned discs.

So...

Do I even worry about the freezing on the burned sample disc I make, and send the iso to the replicator and get a check disc for review?

Can I go back to a 27 or 28 bitrate for replication?

At 23.95 gigs of data, am I pushing the storage? And does that affect playback?

Thank you for your time

Encore CS6 is asking for a Serial Number when I have Creative Cloud

$

I have the same problem identified here:

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1024884

I am running Windows 7 on a new Dell Vostro, have a subscription to Creative Cloud, have never installed a trial version of the software, and recently installed Premier Pro. The first time I try to run Encore, I get the two screens shown in that thread and repeated here:

Encore_cannot run.png

"Adobe Encore CS6 cannot run in trial mode. Please relaunch the application and provide a valid serial number."

Encore_wants_serial_number.png

"Adobe Premier Pro. Provide a serial number."

I had previously got the problem identified here:

http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/missing-sequence-presets.html

Following the recommendations fixed the problem, but still Encore has the same issue.

When I access this URL:

https://lm.licenses.adobe.com/

I get the message:

"Congratulations! You have successfully connected to Adobe License Management Server."

It appears this is a common problem, but there does not seem to be a common solution. For example, here:

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4677807

and

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4589055

I checked and have no "Hosts" file.

Further, here:

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4677888

I have found that waiting or rebooting the PC does not fix the problem.

Lastly, I tried that proposed here:

http://www.seangw.com/wordpress/2012/08/help-photoshop-cs6-asks-for-serial-number-after-si gning-up-for-creative-cloud/

And that did not work either.

Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro all work fine.

So, what is the solution?

Update, 2012-11-06. I spent 30 minutes on a chat session with Adobe support. The support person told me emphatically that Encore is not part of Creative Cloud and can be obtained only by buying Premiere Pro and not from the Creative Cloud subscription. To prove the point, the support person pointed me to this page:

https://creative.adobe.com/apps

Now on that page, Adobe has done something clever and stupid. If you view the page with XP (for example), it does not show Premier Pro because Premiere Pro works only on a 64 bit OS. If you view the same page under Windows 7 it does show Premiere Pro. I think it would be better if Adobe showed the application (possibly greyed out) with a note that it cannot be installed on the PC that is viewing the page. Well, I was having the chat on my laptop (running XP) and I guess the support person was also on XP so the case was proved!

But I sent him a link to this page:

http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/tools.html

However, the support person told me I needed to contact sales. I called them and asked the support guy to wait on the chat session until I had an answer. The lady in sales said that Encore is definitely included in Creative Cloud. But as I was about to relay that information to the support person, he ended the chat session!

The pleasant lady in sales said she would transfer me to phone technical support. I was on hold for 60 minutes and had to quit to go and do a task.

Perhaps this will be resolved and I shall update this thread ...

Fly back / scan line flicker

$

Hi,

Have been using Adobe Encore 2.0 for some time now and am getting increasingly annoyed with the flickering fly-back line visable at the bottom of the screen when watching back DVDs.

It never occurs when making a dvd directly from premier pro and my colleague thought cropping it in premier pro, before exporting it (using Matrox real-time export to disc) would get rid of it but it simply appears over the top of the cropped area again.

Is there ANYTHING in encore itself that can get rid of it because it's clearly coming from that programme yet there's nothing in the 'Help' that addresses it.

Please help! It's driving me mad!
