I keep getting a "Sorry an Unknown error has occurred" or an "Internal Media Engine Error" whenever I playback video in the monitor or preview for any length of time. It will play (choppy) forbetween 10 and 30 seconds then fall over. The audio keeps playing and the video freezes and the program gives you an opportunity to save. Quite often Encore will lock up at this point.
To rule some things out: based on a thread with a similar topic I've tried closing all GOPs - didn't help. BTW the DVD spec specifically does NOT require closed GOPs so neither should Encore - it reduces the compression efficiency. Closed GOP's should only be required for VCD and SVCD.
I use ProCoder (latest version) to render my .M2V's and have not had problems before. I am running an NVidia FX1100 128MB with driver #77.18 set to dual display 1024 x768 x 2, Windows XP SP2, Direct X 9+, QT7 (latest), dual Xeon 2.6 MOBO with 2 gig RAM. I'm running Encore as part of Production Studio. 4 way SATA stripe as my main data drive. The M2V's play fine on the desktop and in PowerDVD.
